From the desk of John Summerson

Sir John Summerson, Letter from the Director of Sir John Soane's Museum, with illustration of museum cat, DM 2151 – Drawing Matter

Sir John Summerson (1904-1992). Letter from the Director of Sir John Soane’s Museum, with illustration of museum cat, date unknown. Pen and ink on letterhead, 204 × 126 mm.

The cat was called ‘Puss’. Anthony Vidler recalls that it ‘was fierce, and farted underneath the desk’.

WE SUGGEST

On Soane's design for Hog Styes; for a letter from Ray Bradbury, with a section through the Soane Museum; and for a piece by Anthony Vidler, somewhat more serious, on Debord's plan psychogéographique and the dérive, a product not of concentration, but of ‘distraction'.
