Dear All,

Drawing Matter is a collection of drawings, but also of 'matter'– of all the fragments of information we have collected over the years that help us to understand them.

This Christmas newsletter is a wilfully messy experiment. We have asked Drawing Matter editor Tina di Carlo to undertake a voyage of exploration through the files at Shatwell, which can include associated images, publication and exhibition histories, and the comments of scholars or the designers themselves, together with the (sometimes strange) discoveries of material history.

The journey begins with a single favourite drawing of my own: page 68 from Natalini Sketchbook 12, in which Adolfo explores a key early project with Superstudio. Please click here, or on the image itself, below. Directly below the range of images we present to you are further links that trace a particular path through our own archives and elsewhere…

Our hope is that between Christmas turkey and Christmas cake, you might lose your way in this metaworld of information and imagery. The Drawing Matter editors welcome any responses from your experience, or please share your own discoveries and voyages here.

With best wishes

Niall Hobhouse
